    Welcome to Frontier District

    The Mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral decisions throughout their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. You will find tons of information on this site as we bring it up to speed on current events in the District.     Monthly Roundtable

    When: October 3rd, 2019 at 7pm
    Where: Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113
    What: Roundtables play a significant role in providing continuous supplemental training for unit leaders. This monthly event provides program topic guidance and structure suggestions for unit leaders. 

    Cub Scout topic- Flag Ceremonies and Etiquette: Have you ever wondered how to teach your Cub Scouts about flag ceremonies or flag etiquette? October Roundtable will focus on demonstrate different ways to use the flag in den and pack meetings.

    Scouts BSA topic- Public Displays of Affection. How do you handle public displays of affection at scout meetings and activities? What are the protocols from YPT and Youth on Youth Abuse training?

    Upcoming topics: In November, Cub Scouts will be discussing Den and Pack behavior and discipline and the Scouts BSA discussion will be on counseling youth following traumatic events.

    Merit Badge College

    Frontier District Merit Badge College is back!  To register or to find additional information including course offerings, please click here.

    When: Friday, November 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
    Where: 2710 Monaco Parkway, Denver, CO 80222 (The Denver LDS Stake Center Building)
    What: Welcome to the 2019 Frontier District's Merit Badge College. This year's event will be held on Friday , November 8, 2019 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and again on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 8:00 am - to 4:00 pm. All classes will be held at  the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Monaco Stake Building.

    All Scouts for every district are welcomed to attend.

    The registration fee is $35 and includes the Merit Badge College, a t-shirt and lunch. There is a $5.00 early bird discount until October 18th. On October 19, the cost goes up to $35 until the registration closing day. You may "walk-in" however the cost will be $40 and class choice will be be very limited.

    The Merit Badge College is offer two adult training on Saturday that you are welcome to attend at no charge. There is a spot on the registration for you to register. While there is no charge to attend, it would be nice to prepare a place for you.  If you would like to stay for lunch, lunch would be an additional $5.00 per adult.

    Scouts that are attending must be come prepared and ready for the day in uniform. 

    Friday registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. and classes will begin at 6:00 pm. Saturday morning registration begins at 7:00 am and classes will begin at 8:00 am. Saturday afternoon registration will begin at 11:00 and classes will begin at 12:15 pm. Prerequisites are listed in the individual class registrations.

    Lunch will consist of pizza, fruit, snack and a drink. In case of food allergies, please bring your own sack lunch. No monetary credit will be given if you bring your own lunch. Please note that lunch only is provided on November 9, 2019. No other meals will be provided.

    November 27 All money needs to be into the Denver Area Council (Paid in Full)      

    2019 Popcorn Commission Breakdown

    Units can earn up to 38% commission for the traditional popcorn sale. Bonus commission is given in December as long as units have settled their popcorn account by December 2nd.

    • 30% Base Commission
    • 4% Bonus Commission: 20/20 Club (Complete any 1 of the 3 below)
      • Unit Sells over $20,000 of Popcorn in 2019
      • 20% increase in total popcorn sales from 2018 amount
      • Unit new to the popcorn sale (did not participate in the 2017 popcorn sale
      2% Bonus Commission for attending a popcorn kick-off on July 31st or August 13th
    • 2% Bonus Commission for having less than 5% returned popcorn on total show and sell order

    35% Flat Commission given for all ONLINE popcorn sales

    *Any unit whose account is not settled in full by 12-2-19 will receive a maximum 30% base commission.

    Trail's End Popcorn Information

    After you have signed up your unit for the popcorn sale. You will receive log-in information for the Trails End Website. The online popcorn system on Trails End allows your unit to order its popcorn and prizes. You also have the opportunity to set up this system for each of your Scouts so that they can order their popcorn and prizes online and submit them to you for approval. Please review your profile on Trails End before when you get your log-in information to make sure your contact information is entered correctly. If you email is not entered here correctly, you will not receive the weekly popcorn reminder emails. If you are the unit's popcorn Kernel and have not received your log-in information or if your information is incorrect and you need help changing, please contact Dave DeCecco at 720.266.2132.

    Weekly email updates will be sent to anyone listed on the Trail's End popcorn database. Emails will start around the middle of July and will come out Friday every week during the popcorn sale. If you are not getting these emails, call Dave DeCecco at 720.266.2132 to update your contact information so that you will be sure to get the most recent updates.


    2019 Council Camporee

    Every 4 years, instead of hosting individual District Camporees, the whole council gets together to host a Council Camporee. This year is that year!

    When: September 20-22, 2019

    Where: Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch

    Registration is now open, there are a number of options so please register on your unit type's correct page:

    Cub Scout Concierge Camping

    Cub Scouts register for the Council Camporee as families, not as packs or dens. Fee includes Saturday evening dinner and continental breakfast Sunday. Cub Scout groups arrive on Saturday morning and camp Saturday night only. Campsites will be assigned on a first come first served basis upon arrival. All efforts will be made to allow Cub Scouts and their families from the same pack to camp together. Two meals are included in the price, and various food vendors will be attending, providing a variety of food Saturday. Bring some extra money to take advantage of this "Taste of PV". This option is limited to 1000 registrants.

    Cost: $30 each for first 2 registrants, $25 for each thereafter. Price increases on June 1st to $40 each for first 2 registrants , $25 for each thereafter

    Scouts BSA Troop Camping on Dietler Mesa

    Scouts BSA Troops register for the Council Camporee as units. The unit leader (Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, or Camping Coordinator) should make all reservations. No individual reservations will be taken for this event for Scouts BSA camping. The Camporee Committee is looking for a good faith estimate of the number of participants from your unit to reserve your campsite. Troops will be grouped by District in designated camping areas, and arrangements can be made to put related units together. Meals are the responsibility of each unit. Various food vendors will be attending, providing a variety of food Saturday. Bring some extra money to take advantage of this "Taste of PV".

    Cost: $30 for each registrant, youth or adult. Price increases on June 1st to $35 per registrant

    Venturing Crew Camping Registration

    Venturing Crews register for the Council Camporee by units. The unit leader (Crew Leader, Committee Chair, or Camping Coordinator) should make all Venturer Scout reservations. No individual reservations will be taken for this event for Venture Camping, only crews. Crew participants will be camping in a designated area on Camp Cris Dobbins, and will be participating in special Crew-only events as well as the general Camporee experience. All meals will be provided, but various food vendors will be attending, providing a variety of food Saturday. Bring some extra money to take advantage of this "Taste of PV".

    Cost: $46 for each registrant, youth or adult. Price increases on June 1st to $51 per registrant

    Join 5,000 Scouts, Scouters, and family members for a weekend of Scouting fun! This only happens every four years, so don't miss out. Come down for the day to play! Stay for the arena show Saturday night! Various food vendors will be attending, providing a variety of food Saturday. Bring some extra money to take advantage of this "Taste of PV".

    Family Scouting

    The Denver Area Council is thrilled to bring the benefits of Scouting to more kids than ever!

    As of August 2018, Cub Scouts is available for girls and boys. This means even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Cub Scouting promises and be better prepared for future success.

    As of February 1st, 2019 girls are able to join Scouts BSA (the 6th-12th grade program, previously known as Boy Scouts).

    After all, the values of the Scout Law – trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent – are relevant and important values for young men and young women.

    Additional Unit Resources

    Report Your Service Hours

    A requirement for “Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” is to log your service hours online. Scout Masters and Troop Committee Chairs, please remember to log on and track your eagle scout service hours as well.

    Internet Advancement

    Internet Advancement allows you to register once as a first time user and then to log in as a returning user to submit ranks and awards for your unit members. If you log out before you submit a report, your data will be saved. Additionally, Internet Advancement will dynamically return you to the Stage you were in when you left. For example, if you have completed Stage 1 of the process, when you return, you will begin at Stage 2. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

    1. Load your unit information from the council or upload an advancement file.

    2. Select the members you wish to update and insert the new advancement information.

    3. Submit your unit's advancement information to the council. Then print the Advancement Report packet that includes the Unit Awards Summary. Units set their own schedule for submitting reports. We recommend submitting a report every month. Each December a final report with anything not already recorded for the year should be submitted before month end.

    There is also an advancement tracking tool in ScoutBook that now can be set to automatically sync with the national advancement database. For more information, check out this post from Bryan on Scouting.
